FAQ
Answers, before you ask.
What does "founding member" actually get me?
Lifetime access to every premium feature, free, forever. That includes the processing score, advanced filters (cuisine, prep time, nutrition ranges, country of origin), and every premium feature we ship in the future. You get a numbered founding-member badge on your profile too. The offer ends at 1000 members.
Is Biffen free?
Yes — the core app is free. You can browse, save, post meals, build grocery lists, and follow other cooks without paying. Premium unlocks advanced search, the meal planner, and the food-transparency tools.
What's the processing score?
It’s based on the NOVA classification — a 1-4 scale that tells you how processed a food product is. A score of 1 is fresh, whole food (a tomato). A 4 is ultra-processed (a flavoured yogurt with 14 ingredients). Biffen pulls live product data and shows you the score when you scan a barcode.
Is there an Android version?
Not yet. We’re iOS-first for v1. If you want to be told when Android lands, follow us on Instagram or write us at contact@biffenapplication.com.
How does Biffen handle allergies?
You filter allergens yourself through Advanced Search in Explore. Open the filters, pick the allergens you want to exclude, and Biffen leaves out meals that contain them. You can adjust your selection any time, and Biffen still flags allergens when you scan a packaged product.
